Handmade clay vault. Also known as a curved clay vault or Mallorcan vault.

These clay vaults are handmade one by one and fired in a wood-fired kiln, using almond shells from local almond trees in the Valencian Community as fuel. The clay is also produced using local soil. It seems incredible in the 21st century, but making them "the old-fashioned way" gives them unique characteristics.

Texture with small irregularities, the result of manual work.

A tolerance of a few millimeters between pieces. This is normal in clay, a material that, during the process in its plastic state before firing, tends to return to its original shape and that also changes when fired and hardened.

Variations in color from one piece to another, or even within the same piece, are normal and add a certain rhythm to the visual texture. These variations are caused by the wood-fired oven in which they are baked. Just as with artisanal bread, you expect some parts to be more golden than others…
